Caramel Apples

Melt caramels with water in a double boiler or in a saucepan over low heat. Stir occasionally until sauce is smooth.
Wash and dry apples; insert a stick in the stem of each.
Dip into hot caramel sauce; turn until coated.
Scrape off excess sauce from the bottom of the apples.
Place on a greased wax paper.
Chill until firm.
