Ingredients:
4 cups hot water |
12 cups flour (up to 14 ups if needed) |
2 Tablespoon yeast |
3/4 cup canned milk |
1/2 cup shortening |
1/2 cup instant potatoes |
1 Tablespoon salt |
3 large eggs (optional) |
1 Tablespoon Sugar |
Potato Bread Directions
- Soften yeast in 1 cup warm water with sugar. Place remaining ingredients and 6 cups flour in a big bowl and mix thouroughly and kneed, About 10 minutes.
- Add yeast and remaining 6 cups flour kneed 10 minutes more adding more flour ½ the cup and a time until dough is not sticky.
- Put in covered bowl and let rise until double in size, break down, into 6 loaves.
- Let rise until rounded in greased pans and bake 400° for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 375° and bake about 35 or 40 minutes.
- May use half whole wheat flour. (I add 3 tablespoons of soybean lecithin granules.)
- Or trying taking out two or three loaves and then add 1/2 cup sugar three round tablespoons of cinnamon and one and 1/2 cup coarsely chopped nuts. Makes a delicious cinnamon nut bread.
