Ingredients:

6 slices bacon, diced
1 large onion, chopped
2 large potatoes, peeled and diced
1 teaspoon salt
1 8 ounce bottle clam juice
2 8 ounce can minced clams
1 28 ounce can stewed tomatoes
1/2 teaspoon thyme, crumbled

Manhattan Clam Chowder Directions

  1. Sauté bacon until crisp in a kettle; Remove and set aside for Next step. Stir onion into drippings in pan; sauté until soft. Add potatoes,, salt, and clam juice; cover. 
  2. Simmer 15 minutes, or until potatoes tender. Stir in clams, tomatoes, thyme, and cooked bacon; simmer 15 minutes longer. 
  3. Ladle into soup bowls; garnish with finely cut ties, if you wish.
