Ingredients

Ingredients:

3 Tablespoons dry yeast
3 cups potato water
3 cups sugar
1 1/2 cup shortening
6 large eggs
3 cups mashed potatoes
1 quart milk
9 cups flour (more if needed)
2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoon vanilla

Raised Potato Doughnuts Directions

  1. Combine the yeast and water and let stand 1 hour. 
  2. Cream together the sugar and shortening. Add eggs, mashed potatoes, yeast mixture, milk, flour, salt, and vanilla. Need to a soft dough and let rise twice. Roll out and cut and let raise again. Fry in deep vegetable oil at 375° F on both sides. Let drain on paper towels. Glaze as desired.
  3. For cinnamon rolls: rollout and spread with butter and then sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon and add raisins. Then roll into a roll and cut and bake. 
  4. Bake for 375° for 15 minutes
