Ingredients:
3 Tablespoons dry yeast |
3 cups potato water |
3 cups sugar |
1 1/2 cup shortening |
6 large eggs |
3 cups mashed potatoes |
1 quart milk |
9 cups flour (more if needed) |
2 teaspoon salt |
2 teaspoon vanilla |
Raised Potato Doughnuts Directions
- Combine the yeast and water and let stand 1 hour.
- Cream together the sugar and shortening. Add eggs, mashed potatoes, yeast mixture, milk, flour, salt, and vanilla. Need to a soft dough and let rise twice. Roll out and cut and let raise again. Fry in deep vegetable oil at 375° F on both sides. Let drain on paper towels. Glaze as desired.
- For cinnamon rolls: rollout and spread with butter and then sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon and add raisins. Then roll into a roll and cut and bake.
- Bake for 375° for 15 minutes
