Ingredients

Ingredients:

2 quarts water
1 meaty hambone
1 teaspoon salt
6 whole Black Peppers
2 Bay Leaves
4 bullion cubes chicken bullion cubes
1 Tablespoon Oregano
1 Tablespoon Thyme
1 Tablespoon Rosemary
4 15 ounce cans butter beans
1 medium onion

Lima Beans and Ham Soup Directions

  1. Combine Water, Ham Bone, Salt, Black Pepper, Bay Leafs, Bouillon Cubes, Oregano, Thyme, and Rosemary into stock pot. Cover and simmer about 3 to 3 ½ hours. Add Butter Beans and Onion (diced) during the last half hour.
  2. Remove ham bone and cut ham off bone and return meat to soup.
  3. Optional – Use about 1lb of cooked diced ham and add to the soup.
  4. (Note: I bought a spiral ham on the bone and cooked it first and then used the left over ham bone and meat for the ingredients of this soup)
  5. Makes about 6 servings depending on how hungry you are. Enjoy!
