Ingredients
BBQ Beans
2 Tbs olive oil |
1/2 large onion, chopped |
3/4 cup green pepper, chopped |
1/8 tsp salt |
1/8 tsp black pepper, freshly ground |
3 large cloves garlic, chopped |
8 ounces hot Italian sausage, removed from casing |
2 28 ounce can baked beans (Bush's preferred) |
3/4 cup bbq sauce |
1 tbs spicy brown or Creole mustard |
1 Tbs cider vinegar |
1 tsp chili powder |
1/2 tsp creole seasoning |
1 tbs molasses |
Baked Beans Directions
- In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil in a medium heat.
- Add onions and peppers, cooking until soft.
- Season with salt and pepper and add the garlic.
- Cook for 1 minute more.
- Crumble the sausage into the vegetables and cook , breaking up the meat as it cooks.
- Cook until pink is gone.
- Drain some of the liquid off of each bean can making sure there is just enough to cover the beans.
- Pour the can of beans into the vegetables and sausage.
- Lower the heat to medium-low and add the remaining ingredients.
- Simmer for 5 minutes.
- Can be reheated.
