Ingredients:
| 2 cups flour, sifted |
| 1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder |
| 1/2 teaspoon salt |
| 1 cup butter or margarine |
| 1 1/2 cups sugar |
| 4 large egg yolks |
| 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla |
| 1/2 cup milk |
| 4 large egg whites |
| 1/3 cup chocolate syrup |
Lynda's Marble Cake Directions
- Heat oven to 350° F. Grease a 9 inch tube pan lightly. Sift flour, baking powder, and salt together. Beat butter or margarine and sugar in large bowl until light and fluffy. Add egg yolks, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in vanilla. Add flour mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour.
- Beat egg whites until stiff but not dry. Fold into batter gently. Pour half the batter into prepared pan. Add chopped assert to remaining batter; blend thoroughly. Pour chocolate batter into pan. Cut through batter with spatula. Bake 1 hour, 10 minutes or until cake springs back when lightly touched with fingertip. Cool completely in pan. Remove from pan.
