Sheet Cake
| 2 cups flour |
| 1/2 cup butter |
| 1/2 cup shortening |
| 4 Tbs cocoa |
| 1 cup cold water |
| 1/2 cup buttermilk |
| 1 tsp vanilla |
| 1/4 tsp salt |
| 1 tsp baking soda |
| 2 eggs, beaten |
Icing
| 1/2 cup butter |
| 4 Tbs cocoa |
| 5 Tbs milk |
| 3 1/2 cup powdered sugar |
| 1 tsp vanilla |
| 1 cup pecans, chopped |
Chocolate Sheet Cake Directions
- Sift flour and sugar together in a bowl.
- Put butter, shortening, cocoa, and cold water in saucepan and bring to a boil.
- Pour hot mixture over flour and sugar.
- Add buttermilk, vanilla, salt, soda and eggs.
- Beat all together. Pour in a large flat pan and bake 20 minutes at 400°
- Five minutes before cake is done, prepare the icing.
- Put butter, cocoa, and milk in a saucepan for the icing.
- bring to a boil,
- While hot, add powdered sugar, vanilla, and pecans.
- Pour over hot cake; spread evenly and let cool.
- This cake recipe can be made in 30 minutes
