3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour |
1 1/2 packages yeast |
1/4 cup warm water |
3/4 cup milk, scalded and cooled |
1/4 cup sugar |
1 teaspoon salt |
1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted and cooled |
Monkey Bread Directions
- Stir flour and measure. Stir in milk, sugar, salt, butter or margarine, and flour. Beat well, cover, and let rise in a warm place (80°) until almost doubled in size (about 1 hour.)
- Punch down and roll out on a lightly floured board to 1/4 inch thickness cut in diamond shape pieces about 2 1/2 inches long. Dip each piece and melted butter in a range pieces overlapping in a 9 inch ungreased ring mold .The mold should be half full. Let rise until almost double in bulk.
- Bake in a 400° oven for 30 minutes, or until golden brown. Serve warm; pull bread apart to eat.
