Ingredients:
1 16 ounce package macaroni, cooked and drained |
1/4 cup butter |
1/4 cup all-purpose flour |
1 teaspooon salt |
1/4 teaspoon pepper, freshly ground |
3 cups milk |
3 cups sharp cheddar cheese, grated |
10 slices bacon, chopped and browned crisp |
4 large eggs, hard-boiled and sliced |
1/2 cup dry bread crumbs |
1 large tomato, sliced |
Mom's Macaroni and Cheese Directions
- And salted water and macaroni. Cook until done. In a saucepan melt butter and add flour, salt and pepper. Cooking until flour is slightly brown. Add milk slowly blending thoroughly. When sauce is smooth add cheese. Add cheese sauce two cooked macaroni and blend thoroughly.
- Brown bacon until crisp and drain well. Boil eggs until they are hard boiled. Peel and slice.
- In a deep casserole dish, put about half of the macaroni mixture, then a layer of bacon and egg. Top with remaining macaroni. Spread breadcrumbs on top. Add little pats of butter over breadcrumbs. And then a layer of sliced tomatoes. Salt and pepper to taste
- Place in 350° oven for 20 minutes or until top is browned and macaroni mixture is bubbly.
