Ingredients
Cookies
1 cup sugar |
1 cup oil |
1/2 cup butter |
1/2 cup margarine |
2 tsp baking soda |
1 tsp baking powder |
1 cup orange juice |
1 tbs orange zest, grated |
syrup
2 cups sugar |
1 cup water |
1/2 cup honey |
Filling
6 Tbs ground walnuts |
1/4 tsp cinnamon |
1/4 tsp vanilla |
1/4 tsp syrup (above) |
Greek Cookies Directions
- Does salt baking soda and baking powder in a small amount of water.
- Put this and the rest of the ingredients together and beat until light and fluffy.
- Mix in 4 to 6 cups of flour Intel dough is just firm enough so it won't stick to your hands.
- Roll balls into the size of a walnut; push a hole in the ball and put some of the filling inside.
- Close the hole.
- Bake the filled balls of doug in a 350° oven for 12 minuts.
- While the cookies are baking, chop 1 1/2 pounds of walnuts finely.
- When cookies are cool, take a slotted spoon and dip the cookies in syrup and roll in the nuts, convering them completely.
