Buttermilk Syrup
1/2 cup butter |
1 cup sugar |
1/2 cup buttermilk |
1 tsp Karo syrup |
1 tsp baking soda |
1 tsp vanilla |
Buttermilk Syrup Directions
- Combine the butter, sugar, buttermilk, and karo syrup.
- Bring to a boil in an extra-large pan.
- Remove from the heat and stir in the baking soda and vanilla.
- Mixture will fizz to twice the size.
- Let set, stirring occasionally.
- Serve while hot.
Notes
If you don't have buttermilk on hand, substitute 1/4 tablespoon lemon juice plus milk to equal 1/2 cup.
Let stand 5 minutes.
