Ingredients

French Toast

1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 tsp cinnamon, divided
3 tart apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced.
1/2 cup dried cranberries and raisins
1 loaf Italian or French bread, cut into 1 inch slices
6 large eggs
1 1/2 cup milk
1 Tbs pure vanilla extract

Holiday Morning French Toast Directions

  1. Combine brown sugar, butter and 1 teaspoon cinnamon in a 9 x 13 inch baking dish.
  2. Add Apple and cranberries; toss to coat well.
  3. Spread apple mixture evenly over bottom of the baking dish.
  4. Arrange slices of bread on top.
  5. Mix eggs, milk, vanilla and remaining 2 teaspoons cinnamon until well-blended.
  6. Pour mixture over bread, soaking the bread completely.
  7. Cover and refrigerate 4-24 hours.
  8. Bake, covered with aluminum foil in a preheated 375° oven for 40 minutes.
  9. Uncover and bake 5 minutes.
  10. Remove from oven.
  11. Let stand 5 minutes.
  12. Makes 12 servings.
