Ingredients

Poppy Seed Bread:

3 cups flour
2 1/3 cup sugar
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
3 eggs
1 1/2 cup milk
1 1/2 cup cooking oil
1 1/2 TBS poppy seed
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 tsp butter flavoring
1 1/2 tsp almond extract

Glaze:

1/4 cup orange juice
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp almond extract
1/2 tsp butter flavoring

Poppy Seed Bread Directions

  1. Mix all ingredients to the bread together.
  2. Pour into a greased and floured bread pan (Makes 2 big loaves or 3 medium loaves.)
  3. Bake at 325° for 1 hour or until the inserted toothpick comes out clean.
  4. Remove bread from oven.
  5. Baste with glaze while loaves are still warm and in the pans.
  6. Let glaze drip down the edges of loaves.
  7. Glaze: Mix together the ingredients for the glaze in a saucepan; cook over low heat until sugar is dissolved.
  8. Baste on warm loaves.
