Ingredients

Cake

2 cups apples, peeled, cored, and diced
1 cup sugar
1 large egg
1 cup flour
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup walnuts or pecans, chopped
3/4 cup raisins

Sauce

1 cup water
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 Tbs flour
1/2 cup margarine
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup walnuts or pecans, chopped
1/2 cup raisins

German Apple-Raisin Pudding Cake Directions

  1. Lightly oil a 8 x 8-inch pan.
  2. Mix apples and sugar.
  3. Let mixture stand until the sugars is completely dissolved.
  4. Stir in eggs and vanilla; mix well.
  5. Combine flour, spices, nuts and raisins; stir into apple mixture.
  6. Bake at 350° for 40-45 minutes.
  7. Pour topping over warm cake
  8. FOR THE TOPPING
  9. Mix water, sugar and flour, cook over a medium heat, stirring constantly until thickened.
  10. Add margarine, vanilla, nuts and raisins; stir until butter is melted.
  11. Pour over hot cake.
  12. Can be doubled for large groups.
