Ingredients

Ingredients:

2 cups flour, sifted
1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup butter or margarine
1 1/2 cups sugar
4 large egg yolks
1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup milk
4 large egg whites
1/3 cup chocolate syrup

Lynda's Marble Cake Directions

  1. Heat oven to 350° F. Grease a 9 inch tube pan lightly. Sift flour, baking powder, and salt together. Beat butter or margarine and sugar in large bowl until light and fluffy. Add egg yolks, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in vanilla. Add flour mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour.
  2. Beat egg whites until stiff but not dry. Fold into batter gently. Pour half the batter into prepared pan. Add chopped assert to remaining batter; blend thoroughly. Pour chocolate batter into pan. Cut through batter with spatula. Bake 1 hour, 10 minutes or until cake springs back when lightly touched with fingertip. Cool completely in pan. Remove from pan.
