Ingredients

cake

1/2 cup butter/margarine
1 1/2 cup sugar
3 large eggs
1 cup lukewarm water
2 1/2 cup flour
3 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 10 ounce bottle maraschino cherries, drained
1 cup chopped pecans/walnuts

Frosting

1 8 ounce package cream cheese
1/2 cup butter
3 cups powdered sugar(up to half cup more if needed)
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp cherry extract

Cherry Nut Cake Directions

  1. Blend the sugar and butter/margarine together.
  2. Add eggs and water.
  3. Sift flour, bking powder, salt and add to the butter mixture
  4. add marischino cherries and nuts
  5. bake at 375° until done
  6.  
  7. For the Frosting
  8. Blend the creamcheese and  butter.
  9. Add vanilla and cherry extract
  10. Add powdered sugar slowly until well blended and fluffy.

Notes

Can be served with or without the frosting.
