Ingredients

Sheet Cake

2 cups flour
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup shortening
4 Tbs cocoa
1 cup cold water
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
2 eggs, beaten

Icing

1/2 cup butter
4 Tbs cocoa
5 Tbs milk
3 1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup pecans, chopped

Chocolate Sheet Cake Directions

  1. Sift flour and sugar together in a bowl.
  2. Put butter, shortening, cocoa, and cold water in saucepan and bring to a boil.
  3. Pour hot mixture over flour and sugar.
  4. Add buttermilk, vanilla, salt, soda and eggs.
  5. Beat all together. Pour in a large flat pan and bake 20 minutes at 400°
  6. Five minutes before cake is done, prepare the icing.
  7. Put butter, cocoa, and milk in a saucepan for the icing.
  8. bring to a boil, 
  9. While hot, add powdered sugar, vanilla, and pecans.
  10. Pour over hot cake; spread evenly and let cool.
  11. This cake  recipe can be made in 30 minutes
