Ingredients

Strawberry Nut French Toast

1/2 cup butter, cubed
1 cup brown sugar, packed
2 Tbs light corn syrup
10 slices French bread baguette cut in 1" slices
5 large eggs, room temperature
1 1/2 cups half & half cream
2 Tbs hazelnut favoring or Pecan flavoring
1 Tbs vanilla extract
1 quart sliced strawberries
1 cup chopped hazelnuts or pecans

Strawberry-Nut French Toast Directions

  1. Melt the butter, corn syrup and brown sugar together until the sugar is dissolved.
  2. Pour into a greased 9 x 13-inch greased baking dish.
  3. Place bread on top
  4. Whisk eggs in a bowl, along with the cream, flavoring, and vanilla.
  5. Pour over bread and place in refrigerator overnight.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°.
  7. Take French toast out of the refrigerator while the oven heats.
  8. Bake in oven, uncovered, for 35-40 minutes. The top should be puffy and golden around the edges. A knive inserted in the middle should come out clean.
  9. Remove from oven and let stand for 5 to 10 minutes before serving.
  10. Top each serving with strawberries and pecans or hazelnuts.
