Ingredients
Strawberry Nut French Toast
1/2 cup butter, cubed |
1 cup brown sugar, packed |
2 Tbs light corn syrup |
10 slices French bread baguette cut in 1" slices |
5 large eggs, room temperature |
1 1/2 cups half & half cream |
2 Tbs hazelnut favoring or Pecan flavoring |
1 Tbs vanilla extract |
1 quart sliced strawberries |
1 cup chopped hazelnuts or pecans |
Strawberry-Nut French Toast Directions
- Melt the butter, corn syrup and brown sugar together until the sugar is dissolved.
- Pour into a greased 9 x 13-inch greased baking dish.
- Place bread on top
- Whisk eggs in a bowl, along with the cream, flavoring, and vanilla.
- Pour over bread and place in refrigerator overnight.
- Preheat oven to 350°.
- Take French toast out of the refrigerator while the oven heats.
- Bake in oven, uncovered, for 35-40 minutes. The top should be puffy and golden around the edges. A knive inserted in the middle should come out clean.
- Remove from oven and let stand for 5 to 10 minutes before serving.
- Top each serving with strawberries and pecans or hazelnuts.
