Ingredients

Honey Hush Corn Bread

1 1/4 cups yellow cornmeal
1/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup all purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 cup buttermilk
2 large eggs, slightly beaten
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/4 cup melted butter
2 Tbs honey

Honey Hush Cornbread Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°
  2. Grease an 8 x 8 baking pan with shortening
  3. Place the pan in the oven while you mix the corn bread.
  4. In a bowl, mix the cornmeal, sugar, flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk the buttermilk, eggs, vanilla, and melted butter until well blended.
  6. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry, carefully mixing until they are just moistened.
  7. Pull the pan out of the oven and pour in the batter.
  8. Bake for 25 to 20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.
  9. Take the cornbread out of the oven and brush to top with honey.
  10. Cool for 10 minutes in the pan before cutting into squares.
