Ingredients

Honey Biscuits

2 cups flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons granulated sugar
1/2 cup vegetable shortening
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
2/3 cup whole milk
1/4 cup butter, melted
1/3 cup honey

Honey Biscuits Directions

  1. Heat the oven to 450°
  2. Place flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, cream of tartar in a mixing bowl.
  3. Cut in the shortening with a pastry fork until the mixture resembles cornmeal
  4. Pour milk into flour, and mix well, kneading 12 to 15 times.
  5. Break dough into 1/4 to 1/3 cup sized balls, patting to 1/2 inch thickness.
  6. Brush with melted butter and place on a baking sheet.
  7. Bake 10 to 12 minutes
  8. While biscuits are in the oven, pour hone into remaining butter and bring to a boil.
  9. Remove the honey butter from the heat and set aside.
  10. When biscuits are done, remove from the oven and immediately brush with honey-butter
